Bembe Hill Primary School
The Bembe Hill Primary School is part of the Bombo Village and is partially funded by homestead tourism.
The school has been through a lot over the years and has come a long way. There are still several key projects that could use your help,
including building construction, electricity for the water borehole, school equipment, and more.
You can adopt the Bembe Hill Primary School by making a one-time or recurring donation.
Host Families
Mama Milly’s Homestead

Mama Milly's Homestead is located in Wabikokoma Village in the Nubian community of Bombo.
Like most African homesteads, some members of the extended family live in the
home. Mama Milly is unique because she is a Muganda who married a Nubian and
therefore straddles both cultures. At her home one can enjoy Kiganda and Nubian
cuisine. Mama Milly conducts cooking lessons for visitors on the preparation of local
Nubian snacks/cuisine. She has grown children who live in the city and are
supportive of her involvement with the homestay program.
Khalili Homestead

Mama Hajji and her husband Khalili and their family live in Gangama village. They live with Khalili’s mother as well as four grandchildren.
Their elder sons live in a house nearby. As per the Nubian culture, adult sons do not reside in the family house. Mama Hajji is the leader of her
village’s Women’s Group. The home has a unique locally made energy saving cooking fireplace in the kitchen which has been of much interest to the
homestead visitors.
